Nitinat Kiteboarding Trip
John and I are going to join Francis on the Nitinat kiteboarding trip with Strong Kiteboarding on the 27th of this month and we are stoked! Ron can't make it unfortunately and will be missed. I got a funny voicemail from Francis after his lesson a couple of days ago - it seems that it was blowing hard during his lesson in Victoria and he got overpowered with a 9m kite. He said he was dragged about 25 feet down the beach and has some minor abrasions. I have never heard anybody so excited about hurting themselves :)

First of all, He was not over powered and it was a 6 meter
and his first self launch without instruction. He just DID NOT LET GO OF THE BAR.
Make shure you wear a leash

I would like to correct the author of this site and let everyone know that there are in fact two kiteboarding store in greater vancouver. North Shore Ski and Board on lonsdale in North vancouver has been selling windsurfing gear and kites for almost 20 years. See Brett at the store , he's the happiest guy I know.

Cool site. I'm learning myself so, it's great reading about your adventures. Could be wrong but I have not seen anything on "safety". Think you have a public obligation to mention some key things. Check out this informative site (stats are a bit outdated but gives you an idea). http://kitesurfingschool.org/safety.htm

fair enough... it appears that I need to make a post on Kiteboarding safety. I have to say that with the instructors that I have taken lessons with I have been impressed with how much stress is put on safety. I think its a good thing because I have seen some crazy scary sh*t in videos and read numerous kitemares.
